Our Founder

Rick Gillert

For more than a decade, Rick Gillert has dedicated his life to walking alongside people experiencing grief and loss. As the founder of Angling In Grief Support, Rick combines professional experience, compassionate care, and a deep understanding of the grieving journey to help individuals and families find hope.

Rick served for ten years as a healthcare chaplain, primarily in hospice care, ministering to patients and families in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Eastern Kentucky, and North Georgia. During that time, he provided spiritual and emotional support to thousands of individuals facing serious illness, death, and bereavement.

He is the author of Crossing the Bar: A Fortnight of Meditations for Those Facing End of Life and has written numerous articles on grief, caregiving, and faith. Rick has also shared his insights through media appearances, including Pastor Chats with Steve Brown and local public radio programs.

Today, Rick serves as the primary grief coach for Angling In Grief Support, leading both individual coaching sessions and group support programs. His approach is compassionate, practical, and grounded in years of experience helping people navigate one of life's most difficult journeys.
